Snorkeling is a wonderful form of admiring the natural beauty of Mexico.
The Great Maya Reef, located very close to the shore, creates a natural barrier for a large part of the city of Puerto Morelos. For divers this means not only shallow reefs that are waiting to be discovered, but also that the waters are warm and calm. The Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System (MBRS), also popularly known as the Great Mayan Reef or Great Maya Reef, is a marine region that stretches over 1,000 kilometres (620 miles) from Isla Contoy at the tip of the Yucatán Peninsula down to Belize, Guatemala and ends near Honduras. The size of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, is much bigger but experts say that it is here in Mexico that you can find the most underwater life on the surface of one square meter.
